With great respect, our Club shares the news of the death of Rotarian Tom Gray.

Judge Gray’s passing at NHC-Gallatin was peaceful, following a period of declining health.

Tom E. Gray, who retired in 2014 after 32 years of service as juvenile judge and then chancellor, after serving as Dean of Students at Vol State and President of Martin MethodistCollege, was highly regarded throughout Tennessee in the fields of education and law.

For many years, Judge Gray and his judicial assistant Ronda Adams Whittington worked quietly behind the scenes with Gallatin elementary schools to coordinate the Gallatin Rotary Club – noon Christmas for Kids project, funded by the Gallatin Rotary Club Christmas for Kids Auction & Dinner.

Judge Gray was active in promoting the study and preservation of Sumner County history, and was a faithful member of the Gallatin First United Methodist Church, and then the Hendersonville First United Methodist Church.

The community may pay respects to the Gray family at either of two planned visitations:
Thursday, May 30th – 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, HENDERSONVILLE
Friday, May 31st – 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, HENDERSONVILLE

Tom’s funeral will be held on Friday, May 31st at 1:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, HENDERSONVILLE. Burial will follow the funeral at Sumner Memorial Gardens, located at 100 Albert Gallatin Ave, GALLATIN.

Please note that the Gallatin Rotary Club is recognized as honorary pallbearers, among other groups meaningful in Tom’s life.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial gifts be made to either the Volunteer State Community College Foundation or the Gallatin Noon Rotary Foundation – Christmas for Kids program.

Our Club’s gratitude, support, and presence will be with Janice during the days ahead. She and all of Tom’s family and friends remain in our collective love, thoughts, and prayers.
